I created this site after my very first visit to Barcelo Maya in 2000. I am a webmaster at my day-job so this was a natural way for me to share Barcelo Maya with others.
The site started in June of 2000, on a free web host, with lots of ads and popups. Visitors started coming, I added a discussion board. Bandwidth quickly became a problem and by October 2000 I was forced to register a domain name and purchase hosting. Over the years I've had to upgrade hosting based on the growth of the site, upgraded discussion board software a few times as well. Currently the site has thousands of visits every month from people all over the world who are planning to visit Barcelo Maya and from fans of the resort.
When I started this project I never imagined it would grow so big. It is now the definitive resource on Barcelo Maya anywhere.
My husband, Jake, and I visited Barcelo Maya in May 2000, May 2001 and we got married there in April 2005, and visited again in January 2006, November 2006, October 2007, April 2008, October 2008 and November 2009. This site has descriptions, photos, and much more, from our experiences and experiences of other vacationers.
